Equipment

  • 1 air fryer
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 meat thermometer optional

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef 80% lean
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 count hamburger buns

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are well incorporated, but avoid overmixing to keep the patties tender.
  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and shape each part into a patty, approximately ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Place the patties in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not touch each other. You may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  • Cook the patties for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; the internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C).
  • If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  • Remove the patties from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  • Assemble your burgers on the buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using lean ground turkey or chicken.
You can customize the spices in the meat mixture to suit your taste, such as adding paprika or chili powder for a spicy kick.
Consider toasting the hamburger buns in the air fryer for 1-2 minutes before serving to add extra crunch.
