  • 1 grill or oven

Ingredients

  • 2 racks pork baby back ribs About 3 lbs each.

  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Store-bought or homemade.

Instructions

  • Preheat your grill or oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Remove the membrane from the back of each rack of ribs for better flavor and tenderness.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine paprika, brown sugar, black pepper, white sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt to create your spice rub.
  • Generously apply the spice rub to both sides of the ribs, making sure to massage it into the meat thoroughly.

  • Return the ribs to the oven or grill over direct heat for an additional 30 minutes, basting with more barbecue sauce every 10 minutes until caramelized and sticky.
  • Remove from the grill or oven and let rest for about 10 minutes before cutting into portions.
  • Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side and enjoy your soul food BBQ ribs!

Notes

Feel free to make your own barbecue sauce for a more personalized flavor.
These ribs pair well with classic sides like coleslaw, cornbread, and baked beans.
For a smoky flavor, consider using wood chips if cooking on a grill.
Adjust the cayenne pepper in the rub to your preferred spice level.
