- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 6 oz tequila
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 oz agave syrup or to taste
- to taste salt for rimming glasses (optional)
- for garnish lime wedges
- for garnish extra blackberries
Begin by preparing your glasses. If you prefer a salted rim, rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the rims into a plate of salt.
In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh blackberries. Using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon, smash the blackberries gently until they release their juices.
Add the tequila, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup to the shaker with the muddled blackberries.
Fill the shaker with ice, then securely close the lid. Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well combined and chilled.
If you prefer a smoother drink, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a separate container to remove the berry seeds.
Fill each prepared glass with ice and pour the blackberry margarita mixture over the ice.
Garnish with lime wedges and extra blackberries on top. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of agave syrup to your taste.
For a non-alcoholic version, simply replace the tequila with sparkling water or lemonade for a refreshing mocktail.
Experiment with other fruits, like raspberries or strawberries, for different flavor variations.
