- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, finely chopped (any color)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- 4 units hamburger buns
- for garnish fresh parsley, chopped
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until it's browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
Stir in the tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, hot sauce (if using), and season with salt and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to allow flavors to meld together.
While the chicken mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or oven until lightly golden.
Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with fresh parsley if desired, and place the top half of the bun on each sandwich.
Serve the Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes immediately and enjoy!
