Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter (or almond butter)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ΒΌ teaspoon salt
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons water as needed for consistency

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup, peanut butter, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Blend the ingredients until smooth. You may need to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula to ensure everything is mixed well.
  • Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, and continue blending until you reach your desired creamy consistency.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or cocoa level if necessary by adding more maple syrup or cocoa powder.
  • Transfer the chocolate hummus to a serving bowl and refrigerate for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld (optional).
  • Serve with fresh fruits, pretzels, or pita chips for dipping.
  • Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or a dash of espresso powder while blending for extra flavor.
