  • 1 9x5-inch loaf pan
  • 1 spoon or spatula for mixing
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup peeled, diced apples About 1 large apple.
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon For swirl.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar For glaze.
  • 2 tablespoons milk For glaze.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract For glaze.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Be sure the melted butter isn’t too hot before combining with the other ingredients.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not over-mix.
  • Gently fold in the diced apples.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon to create the cinnamon swirl mixture.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over this layer.
  • Add the remaining batter on top and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the top. Use a knife to gently swirl the mixture into the batter.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • While the bread is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Once the bread is done, allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread before slicing.
