Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, ¾ cup of the shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
Spread the chicken mixture evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Layer the frozen tater tots over the chicken mixture, covering it completely.
Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
Once done, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
