- 8 oz bowtie pasta
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup onion, chopped
- 1 cup bell pepper, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bowtie pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, typically around 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using. Mix well to incorporate the seasonings.
Reduce the heat to low and add the cubed Velveeta cheese and milk to the skillet. Stir constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
Add the cooked bowtie pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy cheese sauce. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Remove from heat and serve hot.
Feel free to add your favorite vegetables, like peas or spinach, for added nutrition.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
If you prefer a spicier dish, add more red pepper flakes to taste.
