- 1 cup peanut butter smooth or crunchy
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups chow mein noodles
- ½ cup chopped peanuts optional
- ¼ cup powdered sugar optional
In a mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth (about 1 to 1.5 minutes total).
Add the chow mein noodles to the melted peanut butter and chocolate mixture. If you're using chopped peanuts and powdered sugar, add those now as well.
Mix gently until all the noodles are well coated with the chocolate-peanut butter mixture.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Spoon small mounds of the mixture onto the baking sheet, spacing them apart to allow for some spreading.
Refrigerate the haystacks for about 30 minutes or until they are firm.
Once set, remove from the refrigerator, and enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Feel free to get creative by adding other ingredients like mini marshmallows, raisins, or different types of nuts.
You can also drizzle some more melted chocolate on top for added decoration and flavor.
