Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans To enhance flavor, you can toast the pecans before chopping.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • as needed amount additional powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar using an electric mixer or whisk until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and blend until well combined.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the finely chopped pecans gently until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  • Using your hands, form the dough into small balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter.
  • Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each for spreading during baking.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cool, dust with additional powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For an extra touch, you can toast the pecans before chopping them to enhance their flavor.
These butterballs can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
Feel free to experiment by adding chocolate chips or a splash of almond extract for a twist on the classic recipe.
