- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup cooked black beans canned or homemade
- 1 cup shredded cheese cheddar or Mexican blend
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 4 large flour tortillas 10-inch
- ½ cup salsa optional
- to taste sour cream or guacamole optional, for serving
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
Stir in the cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 2 minutes to allow the spices to blend with the beef and onions.
Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the cooked black beans and half of the shredded cheese until well combined.
Warm the flour tortillas in a microwave for about 10-15 seconds, until they are pliable.
Place a generous portion of the beef mixture in the center of each tortilla. Top with salsa and the remaining shredded cheese.
Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly from the bottom up to form a burrito.
If desired, wrap each burrito in aluminum foil to keep warm and make them easier to handle.
Serve with sour cream or guacamole on the side.
Feel free to customize the filling by adding ingredients such as diced bell peppers, corn, or rice.
You can also make these burritos ahead of time and freeze them for later use. Just rewarm in the oven or microwave when ready to eat.
Adjust the spice level by adding jalapeños or hot sauce if you prefer a spicier burrito.
