1 mixing bowl
1 electric mixer or whisk
1 baking sheet
1 parchment paper
1 cookie cutter or round cutter
1 double boiler or microwave-safe bowl
1 fork or chocolate dipping tool
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk
- ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips For coating.
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil Or shortening.
In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and vanilla extract. Mix well using an electric mixer or whisk until a smooth and firm dough forms.
Place the dough on a clean surface dusted with powdered sugar. Roll the dough out to about ¼ inch thick. Cut out circular shapes using a cookie cutter or round cutter.
Place the cut-out patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them sit for about 10-15 minutes to firm up.
In a double boiler or microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil together, stirring until smooth and combined.
Dip each peppermint patty into the melted chocolate until fully coated. Use a fork or a chocolate dipping tool to remove, allowing any excess chocolate to drip off before placing back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Once all patties are coated, refrigerate them for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate is set.
Store the peppermint patties in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
You can customize these by adding crushed candy canes on top before the chocolate sets for an added crunch and festive touch.
Feel free to substitute the dark chocolate with milk or white chocolate if you prefer a different flavor profile.
