Equipment

  • 1 grill or grill pan
  • skewers wooden or metal
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • measuring cups and spoons measuring tools
  • 1 basting brush
  • 1 tongs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional, for garnish
  • 2 green onions, sliced optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 10 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  • Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  • Optional: During the last few minutes of cooking, brush some extra marinade over the skewers for added flavor.
  • Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions as a garnish if desired.
  • Serve the Honey Garlic Chicken Skewers hot with your choice of side dishes.

Notes

You can customize these skewers by adding vegetables like bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, or zucchini between the chicken pieces.
For an alternative cooking method, you can bake the skewers in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Store any leftover skewers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
