1 mixing bowl
1 whisk or fork
1 measuring cups and spoons
1 stovetop skillet or frying pan with a lid
1 spatula
1 clean kitchen towel or cloth
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk together until well mixed.
Create a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil. Stir with a fork or spatula until a dough begins to form.
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Divide the dough into four equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten slightly to form disks about ½ inch thick.
Heat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease it with olive oil.
Place one bread disk in the skillet. Cover with a lid and cook for about 5-6 minutes until bubbles form on the surface.
Carefully flip the bread and cook for another 5-6 minutes, covered, until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining dough pieces.
Once cooked, remove the bread from the skillet and let it cool slightly on a clean kitchen towel.
You can experiment by adding herbs or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
Serve warm with butter, or use it to make sandwiches or accompany your favorite dishes.
This bread is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a couple of days.
