Equipment

  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Airtight container for storage (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar Optional for enhanced sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice Optional to prevent browning.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  • Wash the strawberries thoroughly under cold water and gently pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • Remove the green stems and slice each strawberry in half lengthwise. For larger strawberries, you can slice them into quarters.
  • If desired, sprinkle the sliced strawberries with granulated sugar and a little lemon juice to enhance sweetness and prevent browning. Toss gently to combine.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the strawberry slices in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching each other.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and let the strawberries dry for about 3 hours, flipping them halfway through to ensure even drying.
  • The strawberries are done when they're dry but still slightly pliable, and they should not feel moist. Remove them from the oven and let them cool completely.
  • Store the dried strawberries in an airtight container at room temperature if you plan to use them within a couple of weeks, or refrigerate for longer storage.
  • For an extra twist, try adding cinnamon or vanilla extract to the strawberries before drying.
  • Use the dried strawberries in salads, desserts, or as a healthy snack on their own.
