Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 rolling pin
  • 1 baking sheet or pizza stone
  • 1 set measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 kitchen towel or plastic wrap
  • 1 oven

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm water Ensure the water is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast without killing it.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
  • Add the olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture, then stir to combine.
  • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until combined. Knead the dough in the bowl for about 5 minutes until it forms a smooth ball.
  • Lightly flour the countertop and roll out the dough into a circle or rectangle, about ¼ inch thick.
  • Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, allow it to heat in the oven for 30 minutes.
  • Transfer the rolled-out dough to a baking sheet or onto the preheated pizza stone.
  • Add your favorite sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add garlic powder or Italian herbs to the dough.
Ensure the water is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast without killing it.
Feel free to use whole wheat flour for a healthier option, but adjust the water as needed for texture.
