Equipment

  • 1 wok or large skillet
  • 1 cutting board
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • 1 measuring spoons
  • 1 spoon for mixing
  • 1 serving platter

Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 bell pepper sliced (red or green)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • to taste salt
  • cooked rice or noodles for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, and cornstarch. Toss to coat the beef evenly and allow it to marinate for about 10 minutes.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over high heat until it's hot.
  • Add the marinated flank steak to the pan in a single layer. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  • In the same wok, add the sliced bell pepper, onion, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Return the cooked beef to the pan and add the oyster sauce and black pepper. Stir everything together for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  • Season with salt to taste, if needed.
  • Serve the sizzling pepper steak with onions hot, over cooked rice or noodles if desired.

Notes

For extra spiciness, consider adding sliced chilies or red pepper flakes to the dish.
Make sure not to overcrowd the pan while cooking the beef to ensure it gets nice and brown.
This dish pairs well with steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
